S01E165 Fast Freight Through Scranton

If you ever get the opportunity to railfan Scranton, South Carolina, I strongly suggest that you take it. First off, you probably won't have to wait very long for a train. Second, it's on a long straight tangent of the old ACL main line, which makes great shots easy, and, unlike most places, the town keeps the picturesque ROW well manicured and litter-free. There's even a South Carolina-style barbecue restaurant within walking distance of the tracks. Please click the thumbnail, watch this short video, and enjoy. Subscriptions are particularly welcome. Thanks in advance!

S01E072 Let's Go Race That Train

Let's jump into my car and go chase a long Norfolk Southern 192 manifest through upstate South Carolina's scenic peach country.  While returning from Edgefield, SC one beautiful early spring afternoon, I spotted the 192 manifest, led by NS 1055 (an EMD SD70ACe) headed toward Columbia on the Norfolk Southern R Line. I was able to pace it (and even exceed it) all the way into Batesburg, catching a run-by at two different points, thereby catching both sides of the entire train, including completely different graffiti, SOU gons carrying untreated ties, amd first generation RailBoxes, as well as a SOU waffle box. It's seven and a half minutes, but it moooooves fast! So please click the thumbnail, watch, and enjoy. Thanks a million!

S01E321 Foreign Power Plus Military Power

This episode has an interesting backstory. My partner, Caroline, saw this train on the Spartanburg Virtual Railfan camera and called me over to take a look. She said that it might be something in which I would be interested for the channel, and she was absolutely correct. Since it was headed for Columbia, a couple of hours later we headed to Catawba Street to wait for it. Around 8:45, we could hear it coming.   Soon we were treated to a pair of BNSF units, followed by 238's usual stack train, and punctuated by 20+ flatcars loaded with Army Humvees.  This video is a composite of the best of both our footage. I hope that you enjoy.  Thank you for watching!

S01E325 A Work Train Goes to Work

A couple of Friday mornings ago, I had barely finished shooting a particularly long NS 237 departing for Spartanburg when I heard another train coming down the R Line south. To my great and pleasant surprise, it turned out to be arguably the longest MOW train I had ever seen. It was pulled by a single Dash 9 with a very friendly crew.  In addition to flat after flat of heavy equipment, it also had a very nice collection of fallen flag (SOU, NW) cars, many of them modified for MOW service. Of special note is the heavyweight dining car for use as the crew diner, odd graphics notwithstanding.  I hope that you'll enjoy this video. Thank you so much for watching!

S02E288 UP 2600 Leads the NS 238

When Norfolk Southern actually puts three units on a train to or from Spartanburg on the W Line, you can be sure that is going to be one long train.  Also, foreign power tends to be pretty scarce around these parts on both NS and CSX, so when I got the word that UP 2600 was going to be leading that day's 238, I headed right over to the tracks, rain or no rain.  If you like long trains, this video is for you. If you like long, relaxing trains to soothe those jangled nerves after a long, hard day, this video is most definitely for you.  Please click that thumbnail, watch, and enjoy. Thanks!

S01E293 Amtrak's Silver Star Shines in Daylight

On Friday October 29, Amtrak's train 91, the southbound Silver Star, was running a bit behind schedule. So I was actually able to catch it in daylight. If you were ever curious about boarding an Amtrak train, please watch this video. If you weren't, please watch anyway. It's short.  Thanks!
