S01E109 Don't Mess With This Train

Long manifest pulled by four units, including an ex-Conrail (you can even see a patch of CR Blue peeking through on the short low hood) SD40-2. This friendly engineer is pulling quite a smorgasbord of car types and roads, including some fallen flags and RBMN, all led off by six-axle DODX flatcars transporting quite a few Army tanks to their next deployment. As usual, lots of graffiti. (No graffiti on the tanks or DODX flats, however.) A fun video.

S01E160 Amtrak Northbound at 79 MPH

S02E008 You Won't Believe What Happened Next

Ok, you're not going to believe what happened, so I guess you'll just have to watch. There I was, standing on Catawba Street just after midnight, as the NS 191, with the Pennsy Heritage Unit leading, was finally getting ready to cross Assembly Street. Then she started slowing down, and a loud banging noise could be heard. Then, as if on cue, she gracefully stopped while still straddling Catawba Street. If I didn't know, better, I'd almost say she was posing for my camera. But no. The engineer or conductor climbed down out of the cab, adressed the problem (which apparently was a dragging brake hose which was banging on the locomotive's pilot), fixed it, and they were quickly on their way to Macon. S01E223 BNSF Runs Fast in Spartanburg

A day trip to Spartanburg last fall proved to be quick. Not only in the amount of time spent there, but also in the speed of most of the trains captured on video there. Like this NS intermodal with all-BNSF power, for example. If you think that some of my videos are too slow, check out this long intermodal racing through South Carolina's Hub City. It doesn't linger.

S01E251 Southern Railway Heritage Unit on the Point

I think this has to be my best video featuring the NS 8099 (Southern Railway Heritage Unit) so far, at least as far as capturing the locomotive herself are concerned. The day after 8099 headed south and east on the 238, she returned on the 237. And I was right there waiting, Nothing but empty autoracks and intermodal on this one, including lots of empty well cars northbound. Oh, and graffiti. Lots and lots of graffiti. You almost never hear my voice on these. That's by design and intention. However, you will hear it briefly at 2:38 when a foolhardy young trespasser puts in an appearance. S01E287 New York Central Heritage Unit on NS 15R

On a drizzly late October afternoon, I received word that NS 1066, the New York Central heritage would be leading the 15R. Just as the last car pulled out of sight, it began raining harder. Even the sky was sorry to see her go. Modelers take note: Check out the sloppy decal work on UTLX 901251 at 4:02. You won't feel quite as bad about some of your lesser efforts.
